Who We Are
Our Practice Philosophy
Our bodies are meant to be healthy and our nervous system controls that health - it connects everything that goes on in our body and allows us to experience the world. Symptoms are a message from the wisdom of our body; they are not typically a message that we lack a medication, but rather that something needs to change. This change may involve work, lifestyle, or stress caused by anything from the foods we eat to the chemicals in our environment to day-to-day physical activities. These stresses distort the function of the nervous system and, like a dimmer switch turning down the power to the lights, the body’s ability to fix itself is diminished.
Regular chiropractic adjustments and a holistic view of the body can help release the overload of stress from your body.
Determined to Lead You to Health
Dr. Shaw’s personal experiences with health challenges have inspired in him a lifelong pursuit of solutions for his patients’ most pressing issues. Dr. Shaw uses pressure points and a series of gentle taps around and along the spine to release tension in the body and allows the body to unwind and start the healing process.
Healing in Body, Mind, and Spirit
We look at you as a whole person and bring our own experiences to our care for you. The gentle, non-cracking chiropractic we use works. If it is not working as well as expected, then we will strive to help figure out what will work to help you on your journey to optimal health.
The hope and optimism you will experience in our open, positive environment will be just what you need to take the first steps in the healing process.
Meet Dr. Shaw
Growing up in a chiropractic family, Dr. Shaw started learning about chiropractic care when he was just 12 years old from his father. Chiropractic was a natural fit for post-secondary studies and Dr. Shaw opened up an Oakville practice soon after his graduation from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
Dr. Shaw is a chiropractor, a health geek (health is his hobby), and a fitness lover. He is fascinated by nutrition, interested in spirituality, and an environmentalist.
All too aware of the extent to which physical, chemical, and emotional stresses can overwhelm and impact the body, Dr. Shaw relentlessly researches to find new ways to improve health – knowledge that he uses to benefit his patients.
Outside the Office
Dr. Shaw and his wife, Cathy, are happily married with four adult children. He loves working with his hands, including taking on his own home renovations. Practicing what he preaches, Dr. Shaw has a healthy, active lifestyle and keeps fit by cycling and eating well. You may see Dr. Shaw’s beloved Golden Retriever, Pilgrim, in the office on occasion, always looking for love!
